11 Temmuz 1979’da Londra/İngiltere’de doğdu. İlköğretim yıllarını Londra’da geçiren Hanife Bensen, daha sonra Kuzey Kıbrıs’a yerleşerek Türk Maarif Koleji’nde eğitimini tamamladı.

Lise öğretimini tamamladıktan sonra, Yakın Doğu Üniversitesi’nde İngilizce Öğretmenliği Bölümü’nde eğitim görmeye başladı. Üniversite eğitimini sürdürürken aynı zamanda ‘TotsandJuniors’ adlı kreşte de İngilizce dersi verdi. Buna ek olarak, 2002’de Fullbright’ın sunduğu Amerika’da Türkler ve Rumlar arasındaki çatışmayı konu alan sempozyumda, Türklerin tarafını temsil etme amaçlı verilen bursu kazanarak altı hafta Amerika’da çeşitli aktivite ve tartışmalara katıldı. Bu altı hafta içerisinde AED (Academy of Educational Development) adlı yerde çalıştı. Üniversitenin son yılında verilen stajyerlik dersini Bayraktar Türk Maarif Koleji’nde tamamladı.

Üniversiteden mezun olduktan sonra, Hanife ilk öğretmenlik tecrübesini 2003 yılında Uluslararası Kıbrıs Üniversitesi’nin hazırlık okulunda tamamladı. İki yıllık deneyimi içerisinde koordinatörlük görevini üslenen Hanife aynı zamanda da yeni gelen öğretmenleri eğitti. 2005 yılında Yakın Doğu Üniversitesi’nin sunduğu bursu kazanarak İngilizce Öğretmenliği Bölümü’nde Master’e başladı. 2007’de yüksek lisansını onur derecesiyle tamamlamadan önce ‘TheEffectiveness of theProcessGenreApproach in theTeaching of Writing’ adlı tezini yazdı.

2005’de Yakın Doğu Üniversitesi’nde Hazırlık Okulu’nda göreve başladı. Görevi gereği birçok bölüme de ders verdi. 2013’ de Eğitim fakültesinde İngilizce Öğretmenliği bölümünde göreve başladı. Buna ek olarak, İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı ve Mütercim Tercümanlık bölüm öğrencilerine de ders vermektedir.

2014 yılında doktora çalışmalarını Yakın Doğu Üniversitesinin İngiliz Dili Eğitimi anabilim dalında, ‘TheImpact of IntroducingBlended Learning in an EFLWriting Course: An Action Research’ ismindeki tezi ve gerekli çalışmaları başarı ile tamamlayarak Doktor unvanını elde etti. Birçok konferanslara ve seminerlere katılan Hanife Bensen uzmanlık konusuyla ilgili sunumlar vermiş ve çeşitli makaleler de yayınlamıştır.
